If all the ice covering Antarctica, Greenland, (Antarctica would make about 60 meters of sea-level rise, Greenland about 7.4 meters), and in mountain ice caps around the globe were to melt, sea level would rise about 70 meters (230 feet) and cover all seaside cities.
The user 7LeagueBoots made an atlas of maps that vividly illustrate what will happen to cities located on the shores of the oceans when the world’s oceans rise by 70 meters (230 feet).
North America
Eastern and Southern United States with a 70 meters sea-level rise
North American West Coast
California Coast
Central America
South America
Europe
North Sea Countries with a 70 meters sea-level rise
The Mediterranean and Black Seas
Black, Caspian, and Aral Seas
Asia
Northern Russia with a 70 meters sea-level rise
The Middle East and India
East Asia and the East China Sea
Mainland Southeast Asia
Island Southeast Asia
Africa
Australia
If the sea level rises 100 meters, the consequences will be even more frightening.

Wonder why ol’ China isn’t worried seeing they have the most to lose in this scenario and yet are the #1 polluter on Earth? Hmm…
Absurd to think China is not concerned. Size and development ensure that China would have to generate more carbon than anyone else unless they chose to live pre-industrially. The only rogue nations on climate agreements are the USA and a few other defective misfits.
If you didn’t buy their goods, you would once again be the number one polluter.
Wrong map of greenland! There wil be no in land see and the prove is there right for our eyes. About 12.000 years ago the last ice age ended Scandinavia that was unther miles of land ice was pussed down in to the arnt crust so when the ice melted ther was no inland sea forming but Scandinavia rised upwards and is still doing so. So Greenland wil also rise out of the earth crust and so will Antartica. But there where land was pussed down somewhere else it wil rice. Northern Europ was lifted up during the last Ice age. Today this region sinks down over about 10 mm a year. Sea level rice? For get it it is a way to let your pay for your own fear!
Isostasy is going to take a long time to eliminate that hole in the middle of Greenland. No inland sea in Scandinavia? What do you think the Baltic is?
The baltic is not a result of the melting of the glaciers in Norway after the ice age. Because the baltic was already there.
The quick rice of the land in Norway points out that there wil not be a inland sea in greenland and also on the antartic
The land surface around Lake Michigan-Huron is still rebounding some 10,000 to 14,000 years after the Ice sheet melted back. [& the N. American Great Lakes still persist, tho there were predictions that eventually outflow of Superior & Michigan-Huron will drain out via the Chicago SEWAGE Canal, instead of St. Lawrence River!!!] ‘Tis logical to expect that IF we – the 1 to 2 Billion Richest Humans on Earth – continue our excessive rates of GHGs pollution; then both ice caps will melt &/or slide into the oceans, raising global sea level some 70 meters (230 feet) leaving those 2 huge fresh water lakes, which will persist for many millennia as Antarctica & Greenland’s crustal bedrock SLOWLY rebounds!!!
RE: 70 M, MegaDams, Locks, Hydro

To save human civilizations, we must immediately eliminate CO2, CH4, CFCs, HFCs &
other greenhouse gas emissions. Given how little Big Businesses & Big
Governments have done since the 1992 Rio Climate Summit, don’t hold your
breath. While we rapidly slow, stop & reverse GHG emissions, we must also mitigate the submerging of civilizations. Our First MegaDam goes at Straits of Gibraltar & second / twin dam at either Suez Canal choke-point or between Djibouti & Mayyun. Build in & out locks at both dams. Stablize the Med & Black Seas about 1 meter below 20th Century MSL. These 2 MegaDams will also save Caspian & Aral Sea’s Civilizations
& ‘tis our most essential project of Planet EARTH!!! Design & install Hydro
Turbine-Generator Sets at both MegaDams, with operational Heads ranging from 5
to 75 meters!! Yeap, it will work because twice as much water evaporates annually from Med Sea as flows in from the rivers!! Build both Red-Dead & Med-Dead Pumped-Storage Hydro projects to remove excess salt, generate Net electricity, extract more Potassium, produce drinking & irrigation water via reverse osmosis at Dead Sea cliffs. Build similar Pumped –Hydro project from south Med. Coast into the Qattara Depression in northwest Egypt!!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qattara_Depression “…potential to generate hydroelectricity here.”
Other Choke-Points where MegaDams, locks & hydro can save smaller human
civilizations include: Golden Gate Strait from San Francisco to Marin County, CA, Strait of Hormuz from Oman to Iran, 2 MegaDams in South Australia east of Adelaide at Mannum near mouth of Murray River & at south side of Port Augusta!!! Eventually raise the top of Laguna Dam on Colorado River north of Yuma, AZ from 140’ to 230’ & across Gila River build dam to 230’ just north of the Siphon of the Wellton-Mohawk Canal! Where else are Choke-Points narrow enough for MegaDams to be feasible???
Meantime move millions of humans from Ganges, Mekong, Mississippi & Nile Deltas also Gulf & Atlantic coasts of USA to the Great Lakes region above the 1,000
year flood plains & more than 70 meters (230 feet) higher than OLD Sea Level!!! Ron [email protected]

why wouldnt we all just move, the sea level will rise to this anyway it is just a question of time
The new coastlines look really cool, but most of the worlds fertile land would be lost, only way to get thru this would be to to use green houses and tons of energy to move desalinate water and pump it to applicable areas. The amount of people displaced worldwide is incredible, this would be a HUGE disaster.
Not to worry. Iowa is at 900 feet. you don’t need to start holding your breath yet.
Sounds good. What we lost on the coast in land mass would be more than gained by uncovering Antarctica. Also, Australia would gain an inland sea which would make the center of the continent farmable.
Well Greenland plus the Antarctic archipelago. But I doubt it balances out with a full 70m. OTOH, the arable increase is more likely.
Add Siberia and Northern Canada.
Would sadly be losing the most valuable land which is the fertile land in river valleys to flooding all over the world. Unlikely that Antartica has fertile land under the glacier to the same degree to make up for the losses
Terminal & lateral moraines & some areas of ground moraines having several feet of loose glacial till soil materials WILL be Fertile – able to supply adequate amounts of elements essential for higher plants’ survival, in chemical forms which those plats can absorb. Large areas will be bare bedrock or have only several inches of soil material. Very low plant growth due be COLD climate. Most of Antarctica & northern Greenland will continue to have about 4 months of total darkness, then 2 months of transition, then 4 month of continuous daylight , then 2 months transition; that 12 month cycle will repeat for many millennia. Enjoy the radishes, cabbage & leaf lettuce which might thrive during the bright 6 months; preserve plenty for 6 dark months.
Using the eastern North America map as a basemap for three novels.
Interesting, if wildly speculative.
The 2021 IPCC AR6 predicted a best estimate sea level rise of 6-27 inches in 2070.
One meter is sort of in the ballpark, if a little high. A 70 meter rise in sea levels is way out in LaLaLa Land.
How about a map with a more realistic 1metre and 2 metres rises
Hi! Love the maps! Is there any way to get the Australia map without the red city dots and city names? Thanks 🙂
Pure, unaduterated fantasy!!
Interesting, but what would the climate be like. What effects on wildlife, where would the fertile lands be the deserts?.
Far more questions in the background just as important
